Partially Recycled Oil Bottles

Jumbo and Verpact Team Up to Launch 30% Recycled Frying Oil Bottles

Verpact and Jumbo Supermarkten have introduced frying oil bottles containing 30% recycled plastic as part of efforts to reduce the environmental impact of packaging. The updated 3-liter containers are expected to lower emissions, with estimates suggesting that every kilogram of plastic recycled can prevent approximately 2.5 kilograms of CO₂ from being released.

The initiative is a part of Verpact’s Delta Plan for Circular Plastic Packaging, which was launched alongside brand partners to address persistent barriers to circular plastic use. To ensure the project runs smoothly, Oiltrade manages the filling of the bottles, which are then distributed and sold through Jumbo’s retail network.

“We started pioneering, connecting, and matchmaking last year, and now we can present our first match with a major retailer,” comments Verpact CEO Hester Klein Lankhorst. “The Delta Plan shows what’s possible when supply chain partners are willing to collaborate and remove obstacles.
