Aerleum Converts CO₂ into Synthetic Fuels & Chemical Feedstock
Kalin Ned — November 13, 2025References: aerleum
Founded in 2023, Aerleum is a French technology company that is developing an integrated process for converting atmospheric carbon dioxide into synthetic fuels and chemical feedstocks. The company's core innovation is a reactive adsorbent material that performs both the capture of CO₂ and its subsequent conversion into target molecules within a single reactor system.
Aerleum's approach to processing atmospheric carbon dioxide is designed to eliminate the energy-intensive intermediate steps — such as compression, transport, and purification of CO₂ — that characterize traditional methods, which keep capture and conversion as separate processes.
The company, which is part of the climate tech accelerator Third Derivative founded by RMI, initially targets the production of e-methanol and aims for its technology to achieve cost parity with conventional fossil-based production pathways.
