Next-Gen Carbon Sequestration Tech

Heirloom Taps Limestone's Carbon Sequestration Abilities

References: heirloomcarbon
Heirloom is a carbon removal enterprise that utilizes Direct Air Capture to accelerate the natural carbon sequestration properties of limestone. Heirloom maintains that "limestone powers affordable carbon removal" and its methodology focuses on enhancing the rate at which this common mineral absorbs atmospheric carbon dioxide. Typically, this process — which is known as carbon mineralization — occurs over years. Heirloom's technology, however, expedites this to just days. Heirloom's accelerated mineralization technique is integrated into its Direct Air Capture operations, which are being developed at an industrial scale. The company is currently advancing several projects in the United States, including two facilities in Louisiana with a stated combined annual capture capacity of hundreds of thousands of tons. These build upon an existing commercial operation in California. The company emphasizes that its facilities are powered by renewable energy and incorporates principles of community engagement and labor standards into its development model.
