Bioethanol Carbon Capture Sites
ADM's Carbon Capture Project Commences at its Corn Processing Site
Kanesa D — November 11, 2025ADM has officially launched carbon capture and storage (CCS) operations at its corn processing complex in Columbus, Nebraska, positioning the facility as the world's largest bioethanol CCS site. The initiative is a tangible representation of ADM’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions while reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its operations.
The project uses the Trailblazer pipeline, operated by energy infrastructure leader Tallgrass, to safely transport captured carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the Columbus ethanol plant to Tallgrass’ Eastern Wyoming Sequestration Hub, where it is permanently stored deep underground. To support the initiative, Tallgrass built a lateral pipeline connection from ADM’s facility to the central pipeline system, relying entirely on voluntary easements from local landowners.
“This project proves that global impact grows from local roots,” said Alison Nelson, segment president of CO2business development and origination at Denver, Colorado, US-based Tallgrass. “We’re proud to stand with ADM in achieving this milestone.”
