The Canadian Coast Guard vessel Earl Grey has become the first ship globally to deploy an electrochemical system for treating sewage wastewater. Developed in collaboration with Terragon Environmental Technologies after more than a decade of research and engineering, the solution is designed to process both sewage and greywater onboard.

The system represents a significant advancement in marine wastewater management, removing approximately 75% more suspended solids and harmful pollutants compared to conventional treatment methods. This enhanced performance supports efforts to reduce the environmental impact of maritime operations on oceans and waterways, allowing Canada to champion clean technologies that help improve natural resources.
