CompuCycle — a Houston-based IT asset disposition and electronics recycling company — has partnered with Pearland Independent School District to launch TechCycle. This workforce training program is intended to teach students with disabilities how to safely dismantle and recycle computer components — from RAM and hard drives to batteries and Wi-Fi cards — according to real industry standards. The opportunity is available to students aged 18 to 22.

The TechCycle program differs from traditional classroom instruction by creating a self-sustaining model where the recovered materials from student work generate revenue that funds the program itself. CompuCycle is committed to providing best practices for safety protocols, workflow design, and ongoing technical support. The company will purchase the scrap generated after each program cycle.

The TechCycle program launched with $10,000 in funding from Texas A&M University.
