Innovation-Driven Development Initiatives

The BuildSmart Innovation Challenge is organized by CREDAI Mangaluru in partnership with Section Infin‑8 Foundation (SI‑8) and Mission Utthan, with operational support from Nexus Core and academic partnership from NITK Surathkal to provide technical evaluation and research rigour. The programme was launched at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is structured as a two‑phase national competition that invites students, innovators, and early‑stage startups to submit solutions addressing themes such as construction waste management, a CREDAI member app, a RERA single‑window approval system, and a unified construction workforce platform. The initiative emphasizes converting ideas into implementation through mentorship by CREDAI industry leaders, pilot opportunities with member firms, incubation support via SI‑8 and Mission Utthan networks, and a public showcase at Emerge 2026; the top 10 teams receive mentoring in December and finalists are scheduled to present prototypes at the Emerge event in January.

Eligibility and participation details are specified to encourage broad engagement while maintaining quality oversight: teams of 2–4 members are eligible, the registration fee is ₹999 per team with student teams exempted through industry sponsorship, and the application deadline was set for 30 November 2025. The challenge is positioned as a model for sustainable, innovation‑driven urban development in coastal Karnataka, reflecting CREDAI Mangaluru’s stated commitment to low‑carbon construction and industry‑academia collaboration; partners describe the programme as an effort to build “innovation corridors” that translate regional research and entrepreneurial capacity into nationally relevant solutions.
