Domestic Battery Materials
Wildcat and EnergyX Plan a U.S LFP Cathode Manufacturing Facility
mursal rahman — June 4, 2026Domestic battery materials are becoming a strategic priority as demand for energy storage, electric vehicles, and advanced energy systems continues to grow. Wildcat Discovery Technologies and EnergyX plan to establish a U.S.-based lithium iron phosphate cathode manufacturing facility in Texas, creating a more localized supply chain for one of the most important components used in modern batteries. The project combines domestic lithium production with cathode manufacturing, helping reduce dependence on imported materials while strengthening access to critical battery inputs.
The facility is expected to support applications ranging from energy storage systems and electric mobility to defense technologies. By bringing multiple stages of battery material production closer together, the companies aim to improve supply-chain resilience and reduce exposure to global market disruptions. The initiative also highlights growing investment in regional manufacturing ecosystems that connect raw materials, processing, and advanced component production. As battery demand rises, localized production networks may become increasingly important for energy security, industrial competitiveness, and long-term economic growth.
