Alsym Energy and Re:Build Manufacturing signed a memorandum of understanding to develop U.S. battery cell manufacturing at commercial scale, producing non-flammable sodium-ion cells for energy storage systems without the fire risks associated with lithium-ion technology. Operations would be based at Re:Build's facility in New Kensington, Pennsylvania.

Alsym’s Na-Series chemistry eliminates thermal runaway, enabling energy storage deployments in urban environments, data centers and other settings where safety requirements can limit lithium-based installations. Re:Build contributes domestic manufacturing expertise and existing battery pack assembly capabilities, with cell production representing a natural expansion into a new segment of the US battery supply chain.

Alsym and Re:Build show how non-flammable sodium-ion battery manufacturing could help remove a major barrier to broader energy storage deployment across North America.
