Recycled PE Sacks
ExxonMobil and Selene Launch a Series of Heavy-Duty Sacks with Recycled PE
Kanesa D — March 6, 2026ExxonMobil and The Selene Group have collaborated to make heavy-duty sacks incorporating 50% recycled polyethylene (PE). The new sacks, branded as Selene NextBag, will be used by ExxonMobil’s polymer facility in Meerhout to distribute PE resins to customers. The packaging is engineered to preserve key performance characteristics, including durability, puncture resistance, and reliable sealing. These attributes are supported by advanced metallocene PE resins.
To produce the recycled component, The Selene Group collects end-of-life polymer bags from logistics operations and processes them into its Premium Recycle Polymer. This recycled polyethylene is then blended with ExxonMobil’s advanced metallocene-based resins, including Exceed Tough+ m 1019 and Exxtra Seal m 1012.
“Packaging strength properties and the original thickness of the HDS were maintained thanks to the addition of advanced performance polymers, which helped compensate for physical property degradation due to the incorporation of recycled content,” said ExxonMobil representatives.
