BAE Systems Powers GE Aerospace's Hybrid-Electric Flight Demonstrator

At the Farnborough International Airshow in England, BAE Systems supplied the battery energy storage and battery management system for GE Aerospace's hybrid-electric propulsion demonstrator, which successfully completed its first flight test aboard a modified Saab 340B aircraft. The lightweight lithium-ion battery system is designed to deliver high power while supporting reduced fuel consumption and lower aircraft emissions.
The successful demonstration highlights growing momentum behind hybrid-electric propulsion as the aviation industry works toward lower-carbon operations. Battery-assisted flight systems can help airlines reduce operating costs through improved fuel efficiency while supporting stricter emissions targets.
