Hotel Food Rescue Initiatives

Meliá Chiang Mai Launched a Food Rescue Sustainability Package

Meliá Chiang Mai launched a two-night Sustainability Package that directs a portion of proceeds to Scholars of Sustenance Thailand, a food-rescue foundation that redistributes surplus food from hotels, grocers and restaurants to communities nationwide. The hotel’s food-rescue sustainability package combines accommodation and breakfast with a three-course dinner made from locally sourced ingredients at its 21st-floor MAI Restaurant and Bar.

The package is part of the hotel’s broader 360° Cuisine program, which sources cage-free eggs, organic rice and chemical-free produce from local ethical farms while returning food waste as fertilizer and converting used cooking oil into biodiesel.

As hospitality brands expand sustainability initiatives beyond symbolic efforts, Meliá Chiang Mai demonstrates how integrating food-rescue partnerships into guest experiences can connect travelers to measurable community impact while reducing waste throughout hotel culinary operations.
