Laura McQuarrie — February 2, 2026As part of the Lidl × ProVeg cheese innovation competition, the food retailer declared Finnish company Mö Food the winner, and its oat-based feta alternative will coming to select Lidl locations as of mid-February.
“At the heart of our innovation is a patented technology that does not produce any by-products. This ‘zero-waste technology’ enables us to create cheese alternatives from pure oats that are not only climate-friendly, but also impress with their creaminess and culinary performance," shared CEO Annamari Jukkola and CCO Marjaana Vuorio."
The feta-style Mö Greek—the first oat-based vegan cheese of its kind on the market—is said to be salty and sour in taste, and useful for replacing its animal-based counterpart in a wide range of recipes, in either the Classic or the Greek Mediterranean Herbs variety.
