Nespresso Signs the One Billion Acres Pledge
Kalin Ned — July 2, 2026Nespresso has become the first company to sign the One Billion Acres pledge — a landmark campaign launched by filmmakers Josh Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell ahead of the Cannes Film Festival premiere of their documentary Groundswell.
The One Billion Acres campaign calls on brands worldwide to accelerate the transition to regenerative agriculture. This pledge builds on the success of the filmmakers' earlier 100 Million Acres campaign, which has already helped catalyze the shift of over 30 million acres in the United States. The latest and more ambitious iteration of this initiative aims to expand the movement globally. Its first target are agricultural systems from the coffee highlands of Central America to the grasslands of East Africa. Nespresso's commitment requires that at least 75% of its agricultural supply chain be verified or certified as regenerative, a goal anchored in years of investment through its Nespresso Sustainable Quality Plan.
