Recycle-Ready Packaging Films

CNG Expands Its Gen 2 MDO-PE Film Portfolio

Charter Next Generation (CNG) is expanding recycle-ready packaging films with its Gen 2 MDO-PE portfolio, designed to combine recyclability considerations with the performance required for flexible packaging. The new films include higher heat resistance, improved oxygen barriers and an integrated matte finish for premium applications.

CNG expanded the heat-seal window by 50%, helping mono-material polyethylene packaging run more reliably on existing high-speed converting and filling equipment. Its high-barrier films provide enhanced product protection in thin-gauge structures, while the matte option eliminates the secondary varnishing process typically required to create this finish. The films are designed with applicable Association of Plastic Recyclers guidance in mind.

For packaging companies and consumer brands, these capabilities can make transitions away from mixed-material structures more practical. APR-compliant formats may also help companies respond to emerging extended producer responsibility requirements while potentially reducing associated packaging fees.
