Save the Giraffes, a Texas-based nonprofit founded by the team behind Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, has announced two major milestones in sustainable giraffe conservation: the establishment of the Giraffe Research Centre (GRC) in South Africa and a research collaboration with Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch in Texas. Together, these initiatives advance eco-conscious conservation practices aimed at safeguarding giraffe populations and promoting biodiversity across continents.

Located within the Amanzi Private Game Reserve, the Giraffe Research Centre was developed in partnership with the University of the Free State (UFS) and Absolute Genetics, with full funding provided by Save the Giraffes. The center’s research supports habitat restoration, ecological balance, and genetic resilience within wild giraffe populations.

Its innovative, naturalistic enclosure allows giraffes to roam freely in an environment that mimics their native ecosystems, minimizing stress and enabling sustainable, ethical research. These efforts exemplify how conservation science and environmental stewardship can work in harmony to preserve species and ecosystems.
