Eco-Friendly Swiss Tourism Efforts
Zurich Presented Sustainable Approaches at a Milan Event
Debra John — September 20, 2025Swiss tourism, represented by the Zurich Tourism Board, recently hosted an event in Milan to showcase sustainable approaches to urban travel. The gathering emphasized eco-friendly fashion, farm-to-table dining, and low-impact transportation, presenting Zurich as a destination where environmental considerations shape the visitor experience. The initiative reflects broader efforts within Switzerland to integrate sustainability into tourism and promote choices that reduce environmental footprints.
A highlight of the program was "a workshop led by Christian Kägi, founder of the Zurich-based brand QWSTION; established in 2008, the company is known for adopting circular design principles and prioritizing sustainable materials and manufacturing processes." Kägi introduced participants to innovative design methods, with a focus on textiles and products that aim for minimal or zero environmental impact.
By combining responsible consumption, green mobility, and cultural experiences, Zurich demonstrated how tourism can support both environmental sustainability and meaningful visitor engagement.
