Taiyo Oil and Mitsui Chemicals Invest in the Circular Economy
Kanesa D — October 3, 2025Taiyo Oil Co. and Mitsui Chemicals have announced a joint study aimed at accelerating the transition to a circular economy, where materials are reused and waste is minimized.
Recently, Taiyo Oil earned ISCC PLUS certification at its Shikoku Operations in Imabari, Ehime, and at its Tokyo headquarters, signaling the company’s commitment to sustainable practices. The company is also building new facilities to handle pyrolysis oil, which is produced from plastic waste and other materials, and plans to use its existing refinery infrastructure for chemical recycling.
By converting waste plastics into valuable feedstocks, this collaboration aims to mitigate environmental impact while fostering the development of sustainable chemical solutions. The pair aims to expand the availability of chemically recycled and bio-based materials across multiple industries.
