Sustainable Polymer Processes
FET will Showcase at Techtextil & Texprocess 2026
Debra John — March 6, 2026Innovation in more sustainable polymer processing will be highlighted by Fiber Extrusion Technologies (FET) at Stand A78 in Hall 12.0 at Techtextil & Texprocess 2026. Working closely with customers, FET has developed over 70 customized solutions for producing multifilament, monofilament and nonwoven polymers, supported by specialized extrusion, spunbonded and melt blown systems.
One of its latest developments focuses on producing ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), a lightweight material known for its exceptional strength and durability. UHMWPE is widely used in demanding applications such as medical implants.
Traditional production methods are typically large-scale and resource intensive. FET’s compact gel spinning system enables smaller, more flexible production while reducing waste and improving efficiency. The system uses a patented solvent extraction process with supercritical CO₂, which helps minimize the use of conventional chemicals. This approach allows manufacturers to produce precise, application-specific fibers more efficiently while supporting more environmentally responsible manufacturing processes.
