Farmer Plastic Programs

Winchelsea Residents Can Use bagMUSTER for Free Farm Plastic Recycling

Farmers in the Surf Coast region can now recycle single-use polypropylene bags used for fertilizer, seed, feed, and pet food, thanks to a new drop-off service at the Winchelsea Transfer Station created by bagMUSTER.

bagMUSTER, a national, industry-led initiative that collects and recycles eligible agricultural plastics within Australia, turning them into new products.

Notably, the service helps farmers reduce environmental impact without changing day-to-day farming operations, offering a practical way to manage farm plastic waste sustainably.

“By bringing bagMUSTER to Winchelsea, we are making it easier for farmers and agricultural businesses to recycle responsibly and keep plastic out of the environment,” said Surf Coast Shire councillor Tony Phelps. “Single-use polypropylene bags are a necessary part of farming, but they don’t need to end up in landfills."
