Battery Recycling Partnerships
The Battery Network Expands Safe Battery Recovery
Mursal Rahman — August 13, 2026Battery recycling partnerships are strengthening end-of-life battery management through a collaboration between The Battery Network, the National Waste & Recycling Association, and its foundation. The partnership combines consumer education, industry resources, and expanded collection initiatives to keep batteries out of household trash and conventional recycling bins. By improving recovery practices, the organizations aim to reduce battery-related fires, protect workers and facilities, and make responsible disposal more accessible as battery use continues to grow.
Increasing electrification is creating greater demand for dependable infrastructure that can safely manage used batteries. Stronger collection and stewardship programs could help recyclers reduce operational risks while improving access to recoverable battery materials. The partnership also expands The Battery Network’s role within the waste industry, creating opportunities for closer collaboration with recyclers, manufacturers, retailers, municipalities, and businesses as circular battery systems become increasingly important.
