Turkish Riviera Sustainability Efforts
Bodrum Cruise Port Established a Eco-Friendly Benchmark
Debra John — November 15, 2025Bodrum Cruise Port, a major hub on the Turkish Riviera, concluded its 2025 season by advancing environmental stewardship alongside strong visitor activity. While welcoming 116 cruise calls and more than 138,000 passengers, the port also strengthened its position as an emerging leader in sustainable cruise operations.
A key achievement was the continued implementation of the 'One Day. One Ship. One Future' initiative, developed in partnership with Marella Cruises. The program focused on marine conservation and environmental education, bringing local high school students to the port for ship tours, beach clean-ups, and hands-on learning about responsible maritime practices. Supported by Bodrum Sea Rescue, these activities helped raise awareness of the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems.
The initiative’s environmental impact was widely recognized, earning Bodrum Cruise Port a finalist position for 'Sustainability Project of the Year' at the 2025 Sea Trade Cruise Awards. This reinforces the port’s commitment to fostering eco-conscious tourism across the Eastern Mediterranean.
