Electric concrete transport systems are helping decarbonize one of the construction industry’s most energy-intensive logistics segments. Scania, Unicon, and Liebherr developed a fully electric concrete delivery solution that combines a battery-electric truck with an integrated electric mixer powered directly through the vehicle’s battery system. The setup eliminates tailpipe emissions while maintaining the continuous mixing and heavy-duty performance required for concrete transportation.

For businesses, the system demonstrates how electrification can move beyond pilot programs into scalable industrial deployment. The integrated electric power take-off (ePTO) simplifies operations by reducing dependence on separate fuel-powered mixer systems while lowering operating emissions in urban construction environments. The project also highlights growing demand for low-emission construction logistics as cities and developers prioritize cleaner infrastructure projects. With additional electric vehicles already planned, the collaboration positions Scania, Unicon, and Liebherr to support large-scale construction fleets transitioning toward emission-free transportation and more sustainable building operations.
