Electric Waste Collection Fleets
San Pablo Deploys Electric Trucks for Residential Waste Services
mursal rahman — April 22, 2026Electric waste collection fleets are being adopted by the City of San Pablo in partnership with Republic Services, replacing traditional diesel-powered trucks with fully electric alternatives. The fleet includes integrated vehicles designed specifically for sanitation services, equipped with 360-degree cameras, automated braking and enhanced visibility to improve safety during daily operations. In addition to eliminating tailpipe emissions, the quieter performance of these vehicles helps reduce noise levels in residential areas while supporting the city’s emissions reduction targets.
The shift to electric collection fleets highlights how municipalities and service providers can modernize operations while managing long-term costs. Electric vehicles may reduce fuel and maintenance expenses while helping organizations meet regulatory requirements. Early adoption can also improve service efficiency and support long-term infrastructure planning.
