Long-duration flow batteries are becoming increasingly important for supporting renewable electricity as utilities expand solar and wind generation. Delectrik Systems will deploy India's first 100 MWh utility-scale Vanadium Redox Flow Battery project at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat, one of the world's largest renewable energy developments. Unlike conventional lithium-ion systems, vanadium flow batteries are designed to deliver extended energy storage durations, long operating lifespans and enhanced safety for large-scale grid applications. The project will use Delectrik's non-containerized battery architecture, which is designed for commercial, industrial and utility deployments.

The project highlights growing demand for alternative battery technologies that can store renewable electricity for longer periods while improving grid reliability. As countries invest in larger renewable energy parks, long-duration storage can reduce renewable energy curtailment and improve power availability. The project also strengthens India's domestic clean energy manufacturing capabilities and positions locally developed flow battery technology for expansion into international markets.
