Lyntris Uses Phase Change Materials to Cool Defense Electronics

Lyntris is expanding passive thermal management for compact defense electronics with new phase change material heat sink capabilities. Rather than relying on pumps, tubing and reservoirs for active liquid cooling, the system uses engineered material that melts as electronics generate heat, absorbing thermal energy and keeping components within operating limits. This approach reduces the space, weight and mechanical complexity associated with cooling high-performance sensors and seekers during short missions.

For defense manufacturers, Lyntris is pairing the technology with vertically integrated production at its Maryland facility, covering machining, vacuum brazing, PCM filling, testing and assembly. Bringing these processes under one roof could reduce supplier handoffs, qualification challenges and production delays. With defense platforms moving toward smaller, higher-powered electronics and higher production volumes, Lyntris can position its scalable passive cooling capabilities as an enabling technology for next-generation sensor and seeker programs.
