One-Handed Surgical Sealers

Olympus is advancing open surgical procedures with the POWERSEAL Open Extended Jaw Sealer/Divider, designed to combine multiple surgical functions with ergonomic one-handed operation. The device can seal vessels up to seven millimeters in diameter while supporting grasping, coagulation, cutting and dissection. Its curved, tapered jaw improves access and visibility in confined areas, while a proximally positioned rotation wheel and reduced squeeze force help minimize hand movement and fatigue. A specialized jaw coating also helps reduce tissue sticking during procedures.

For healthcare providers, combining several capabilities within one instrument could improve surgical efficiency and allow surgeons to keep their other hand available for critical tasks. The U.S. and Canadian commercial launch also expands Olympus’ POWERSEAL portfolio across colorectal, gynecological, thoracic, urological and vascular specialties, creating broader sales opportunities within hospitals and surgical centers.
