Soil Carbon Removal Agreement

Boeing Signs Multi-Year Deal for Soil-Based Carbon Removal Credits

American aerospace manufacturer Boeing has signed a soil carbon removal credit purchase agreement with Grassroots Carbon to support its emissions reduction efforts.

The multi-year agreement includes the procurement of at least 40,000 metric tons of carbon removal credits that will be generated through regenerative ranching and improved grassland management across the U.S. These practices boost soil organic carbon while enhancing water retention and ecosystem resilience. The credits will be used to offset Boeing's remaining Scope 3 emissions from business travel, connecting the aviation industry to scalable land-based carbon removal solutions.

Grassroots Carbon measures soil carbon through field sampling and analysis and implements third-party verification to ensure accuracy. This approach shows how regenerative grazing can be deployed across large-scale areas of U.S. grasslands to deliver positive carbon removal outcomes.
