Sweden is Investing SEK 95 Million to Advance Green Technology
Colin Smith — January 17, 2026Sweden’s government has committed SEK 95 million to establish a national innovation platform for green technology, creating a public‑private partnership with RISE, AstraZeneca, and Scania to accelerate industrial decarbonization and commercialize climate‑smart solutions.
The initiative is structured as an innovation and incubation platform based in Södertälje that will provide test and demonstration infrastructure, access to expertise, and support for scaleups working on fossil‑free energy, circular economy solutions, green chemistry, and sustainable transport; the programme aims to reduce national emissions and strengthen industrial competitiveness by addressing Scope 3 emissions and resource use. For policymakers and industry stakeholders, priority considerations include governance of the platform, criteria for participant selection, metrics for emissions and circularity outcomes, and mechanisms to link pilot projects to industrial supply chains and official financing.
