CO2-Reduced Tinplate Packaging
Henkel Launches the New Tinplate Packaging for Adhesive Solutions
Kanesa D — March 26, 2026Henkel is advancing the sustainability of its product portfolio by transitioning its European tinplate packaging to bluemint® steel across multiple categories serving both professional and consumer markets.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and Pirlo, introduces a lower-carbon packaging solution within Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business unit.
The shift to bluemint® steel is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 62% compared to conventional tinplate cans, supporting the company’s broader efforts to lower its environmental footprint.
“Sustainability is an integral part of our strategy, and the new packaging concept for tinplate cans is another strong demonstration of how we are delivering on our ambitious packaging targets – without compromising on the performance of our products,” said Baptiste Chieze, Director Marketing, Digital & E-Commerce for consumer adhesives at Henkel.
