Aviation Biofuel Agreements
Uzbekistan Airports Signed an MOU for Sustainable Aviation Fue
Adam Harrie — May 11, 2026Uzbekistan Airports and Allied Biofuels reached a bilateral agreement to introduce SAF and e-SAF into the country’s aviation fuel mix, with initial deliveries targeted for 2030. The deal centers on a US$6.1 billion biorefinery Allied Biofuels is developing in Uzbekistan, with projected annual output of approximately 160,400 tonnes of SAF, 257,000 tonnes of e-SAF and 5,040 tonnes of Green Diesel.
To support the facility, the project includes a 4.45 GW clean energy system combining 1,600 MWh of battery storage with 2.4 GW of electrolysis capacity for green hydrogen production. Plug Power was named the lead electrolyser technology partner.
As Central Asian countries pursue lower-emission aviation infrastructure, Allied Biofuels demonstrates how large-scale clean fuel production facilities can support regional decarbonization efforts and expand access to sustainable transport fuels.
