Kazakhstan is Set to Build the First Green Fuel Plant in the CIS
Kanesa D — February 18, 2026Kazakhstan is set to build the first CIS plant to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and eco-friendly automotive fuel, marking a major step toward low-carbon transport.
The project is a collaboration between KazMunayGas and U.S. partners, with an expected annual output of 50,000 tons and a total investment of around $200 million. By producing this fuel domestically, Kazakhstan aims to support decarbonization in aviation while also modernizing its broader transport fuel mix.
The facility will reduce carbon emissions in aviation and road transport, position Kazakhstan as a regional leader in clean fuel production, and align the country with global sustainability and low-carbon energy trends. For investors and industry stakeholders, the project represents a first, calculated step toward participating in the emerging low-carbon fuels market.
