Eversource and National Grid launched a vehicle-to-grid ConnectedSolutions pilot in Massachusetts, allowing qualifying residential customers with V2G-capable electric vehicles to enroll their cars in the existing ConnectedSolutions demand response program. Developed with EnergyHub, Sunrun and The Mobility House, the initiative expands a program that already draws flexible capacity from thermostats and batteries to include EV batteries as a grid resource.

With more than 150,000 EVs already on Massachusetts roads and a growing number of bidirectional-capable models available, participating vehicles will be able to send stored energy back to the grid during peak demand periods, helping ease strain while earning incentives for drivers.

Eversource and National Grid show how parked electric vehicles could become a meaningful decentralized energy resource, turning everyday charging behavior into a tool for grid stability, demand management and household cost savings.
