Carbon Dioxide Electrolysis

CERT Systems Delivers "Essential Chemicals Without Fossil Fuels"

References: co2cert
CERT Systems has engineered an electrochemical process that transforms carbon dioxide directly into ethylene, a fundamental chemical building block. The company's approach is noted for only utilizing water and electrical energy as supplementary inputs. CERT Systems' technology is distinguished by its single-step configuration, which is designed to bypass the requirement for conventional intermediary feedstocks such as hydrogen or ethanol. The ethylene generated is chemically indistinguishable from the variant derived from fossil fuels and allows it to integrate seamlessly into established industrial manufacturing processes for plastics and other derivatives. CERT Systems notes that its carbon dioxide electrolysis process results in a net sequestration of carbon, with each ton of ethylene produced purportedly capturing over three tons of CO2.
