OCOchem Boasts an Efficient Electrochemical System
Kalin Ned — November 13, 2025References: ocochem
OCOchem has developed an electrochemical system — termed the Carbon FluX Electrolyzer. This innovation is designed to synthesize formate from carbon dioxide, water, and electrical power.
OCOchem's technology functions by facilitating a catalytic reaction that combines CO2 and hydrogen ions within a liquid electrolyte. The process operates under standard ambient temperature and pressure conditions. For its electrochemical system, OCOchem relies on catalysts derived from readily available metals, thereby avoiding the need for precious or rare elements. The resulting formate solution is subsequently purified to commercial-grade concentrations through a proprietary distillation method.
OCOchem highlights that its Carbon FluX Electrolyzer is structured to be modular as it utilizes multiple interconnected cells to scale production volume, and is engineered to be powered by renewable electricity sources.
