re.green, the 2025 Earthshot Prize winner, partnered with Novo Nordisk on a 20-year Amazon forest restoration project targeting approximately 500 hectares of degraded land in Pará, Brazil, and expected to generate 87,000 carbon removal credits. Restoration activities will combine natural regeneration with active planting of native Amazon tree species, including the sustainable management of native timber across up to 30% of the area.

The project will be implemented through legally binding land-use agreements with rural landowners to ensure long-term permanence, and credits will be certified under Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market methodologies. Continuous monitoring will combine field data and remote sensing to track ecological and climate impacts, with periodic verifications continuing through 2045.

This partnership signals that large-scale tropical forest restoration is becoming both ecologically meaningful and financially viable for private-sector investment.
