BIXI's Bike-Sharing Service Launched Its First Full Season in Sherbrooke
Adam Harrie — April 22, 2026Non-profit bike-sharing service BIXI has launched its first full season of bike sharing in Sherbrooke, Quebec, with 25 stations and 255 bicycles, 80% of which are electric-assist models. The bike-sharing network in Sherbrooke was designed to fit the city's geography and local riders' habits, including direct integration with Sherbrooke's public transportation system.
Seasonal memberships are available for unlimited use of electric bikes at discounted rates, and passes include access to BIXI's broader network spanning larger cities like Montreal and other Quebec locations, with no zone restrictions. Group rates with a 10% discount are also available to encourage daily collective use.
With the expansion toward 1,100 stations this summer, the launch in Sherbrooke shows how purpose-built bike-sharing networks can become part of daily urban commuting when designed around community needs.
