CB&I Validates Non-Vacuum Storage at NASA's Test Facility

Liquid hydrogen storage is advancing through CB&I's demonstration of a non-vacuum insulation system designed to lower the cost of storing large volumes of liquid hydrogen. Tested at NASA's Hydrogen Test Facility, the technology integrates with existing infrastructure while enabling repeated thermal cycling under real operating conditions. The demonstration supports the development of scalable storage systems capable of meeting future hydrogen transportation, industrial, and energy demands.

Reducing the cost of liquid hydrogen storage could remove a significant barrier to expanding the hydrogen economy. More affordable, large-scale storage solutions may encourage investment across transportation, industrial manufacturing, and clean energy infrastructure by improving the economics of hydrogen deployment.
