Hydrogen Energy Innovation Projects

DHBW Mannheim Announced Two Key Projects in Clean Energy

DHBW Mannheim has launched two research projects, GreenLab H2 and PECVD_BipoCoat, to expand its work in electrochemistry and hydrogen technologies. GreenLab H2, described as rethinking hydrogen laboratories as GreenLabs, focuses on sustainable on‑site use of hydrogen within the university’s operations and on developing demonstrators that integrate hydrogen production, storage, and utilisation for campus needs. The initiative is positioned to strengthen applied research capacity and provide practical training opportunities for students and industry partners.

PECVD_BipoCoat targets industrial cost reduction for central components used in hydrogen production by investigating plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition and related coating technologies to improve component performance and lifetime. The project aims to lower operational costs and support wider deployment of electrolyser and hydrogen systems in industry by addressing material and manufacturing challenges. Together the two projects are presented as complementary efforts to advance the hydrogen and energy transition through applied research, technology validation, and industry collaboration.
