Distributed Battery Storage Networks

Madison Deploys Tesla Megapacks to Strengthen Colorado's Grid

Madison Energy Infrastructure is developing distributed battery storage networks across Colorado to help local utilities manage electricity demand more effectively. The project will introduce flexible energy capacity across three locations, allowing CORE Electric Cooperative to strengthen its distribution system while addressing growing power requirements from surrounding communities.

The deployment includes 50 MW of power capacity and 200 MWh of energy storage, making it Madison's largest distributed storage project to date. Using Tesla Megapack technology, the systems will help manage periods of high electricity consumption, support reliable service, and provide greater control over energy expenses. Operations are expected to begin by September 2027.

For the energy sector, this development highlights opportunities for utilities to expand storage infrastructure as electricity consumption increases. Madison's partnership with CORE also demonstrates how distributed battery systems can support economic growth while creating opportunities for similar community-focused energy projects nationwide.
