Vegetable Breeding Partnerships

Enza Zaden and Pairwise have formed a strategic partnership to advance vegetable breeding by combining Enza Zaden’s global seed-breeding expertise with Pairwise’s gene-editing technology and platform capabilities. The agreement focuses on applying precision breeding tools to develop vegetable varieties that address grower needs, consumer preferences, and sustainability objectives, with an emphasis on traits such as improved yield, disease resistance, and post-harvest quality.

The collaboration is structured to leverage Enza Zaden’s commercial breeding pipelines and market access alongside Pairwise’s molecular breeding tools and regulatory experience to accelerate trait development and commercialization. Joint activities will include target selection, trait validation, and market-aligned development, while both parties plan to coordinate on regulatory pathways and stewardship to support deployment in relevant markets.
