Electric Bus System Initiatives

GBN Green Transport Limited, a special purpose vehicle established under the auspices of the Uttar Pradesh government, will deploy 500 electric buses across Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway region. The SPV’s board comprises the chief executive officers of the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, along with a representative from the Noida Traffic Cell, while seven additional subscribers include the authorities’ additional chief executive officers. The company registration process has been expedited, and its inaugural board meeting is anticipated shortly, marking the formal commencement of operations for this green mobility initiative.

As part of the rollout, GBN Green Transport Limited has initiated surveys in Noida’s sectors 82 and 90 to assess depot infrastructure requirements. This programme forms a key component of a broader strategy to modernise urban transport networks, reduce reliance on private vehicles, and mitigate traffic congestion. By integrating a sizable fleet of electric buses into the regional public transport system, the project aims to advance sustainable mobility objectives and support the state’s carbon-reduction targets.
