Bio-Based Nylon Partnerships
Lululemon Partnered with ZymoChem on Scaling Sustainability
Colin Smith — February 24, 2026Lululemon and ZymoChem announced a multi year collaboration to scale bio based nylon 6,6 for commercial use, extending an earlier investment by lululemon in ZymoChem’s Series A funding. The partnership targets a bio based route to adipic acid, a core chemical building block of nylon 6,6, using ZymoChem’s microbial conversion technology to produce feedstock from renewable inputs with a lower reported carbon footprint compared with conventional petroleum derived processes.
The companies describe the collaboration as focused on scaling production and commercialisation so that lululemon can incorporate bio based nylon into existing product lines such as Align and Wunder Train. Public reporting notes the agreement is intended to advance sustainable materials adoption at scale while maintaining performance characteristics required for athletic apparel, though specific commercial volumes and timelines were not disclosed.
