Playing Card Recycling Programs
MGM China Uses a Shredding System to Process Used Playing Cards
Kanesa D — March 24, 2026MGM China has launched a recycling and upcycling program for used playing cards, with the capacity to process up to 3,000 tonnes annually once fully scaled. Developed in partnership with Fnetlink Technology Company Limited, the program focuses on a process that converts discarded cards into shredded material, which is then transformed on-site into high-quality recycled fibers using a dry fiber regeneration technology that eliminates the need for water.
The resulting fibers can be used to produce a range of sustainable packaging materials, including fillers and recycled boards.
“We hope that innovative initiatives like this can inject more creativity and practical possibilities into the diversification of local industries. Looking ahead, MGM will continue to leverage its leading role as an integrated tourism and leisure enterprise, joining hands with all sectors of society to contribute to Macau’s green transition and high-quality development,” said Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Bureau, Kenneth Feng.
