Plastics Recycling Facilities
Abundia Global Impact Group is Partnering with Alterra Energy
Kalin Ned — January 6, 2026Abundia Global Impact Group has taken the next step in developing its planned plastics recycling facility, which will convert discarded plastics into fuels and chemicals. The entity has formally notified its technology partner, Alterra Energy, to begin the engineering design phase for the project at the Cedar Port site in Texas. This progression follows the company's recent strategic acquisition of its project site and marks a critical advancement from initial agreement toward physical construction.
The plastics recycling facility project relies on Alterra's thermochemical liquefaction technology, a process that applies heat without oxygen to break down mixed plastic waste into a liquid hydrocarbon product. A key feature of this technology is its operation as a continuous, rather than batch-based, system, which is designed for greater efficiency and industrial-scale throughput.
The credibility of Alterra's platform is supported by its existing commercial-scale plant in Akron, Ohio, and by partnerships with major industry players like Neste and Technip Energies.
