Rice Decarbonization Funding

CarbonFarm Raises €7M to Cut Rice Methane with Better Water Use

CarbonFarm, a digital MRV provider and project developer focused on rice decarburization, closed an oversubscribed €7 million Series A led by Colam Impact, with participation from Proparco, Suma Capital and BPI France. The funding will expand its technology and expertise to develop, finance, and measure high-integrity rice projects worldwide.

Rice cultivation produces about 12% of human-caused methane, and flooding fields periodically can cut emissions by up to 50% and water use by up to 30% without reducing yields. Carbon Farm pairs satellite imagery, field data, and greenhouse-gas modeling to track practices across small farms, and it now works in 19 countries.

As buyers demand field-level evidence, CarbonFarm shows how rice projects can attract climate finance and carbon-credit demand through measurable results.
