The European Investment Fund committed €25 million to Yield Lab Europe Fund 2, anchoring a pan-European sustainable agriculture investment vehicle targeting €100 million in total capital for early-stage agrifood technology companies. The fund focuses on Seed and Series A companies developing solutions in precision agriculture, alternative proteins, crop and soil health, aquaculture and the circular economy, with 30% of capital earmarked for Ireland.

Classified as an Article 9 SFDR fund with a 90% climate-action investment target, the vehicle addresses a structural imbalance: despite generating roughly 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the agrifood sector attracts only 8% of climate tech venture capital. A portion of carried interest is also tied to measurable sustainability outcomes.

The fund shows how targeted venture capital can help accelerate the adoption of agricultural technologies that support more sustainable food systems.
