Smart Electric School Fleets
Zūm is advancing smart electric school fleets through the rollout of electric buses for the San Francisco Unified School District. The deployment combines electric vehicles with dedicated charging infrastructure and Zūm CMX, an AI-powered operating system that connects routing, dispatch, drivers, schools, families and safety operations in real time. Zūm tested multiple electric bus configurations under San Francisco’s hills, weather and operating conditions before beginning the broader rollout.
The integrated approach could help school districts transition from diesel vehicles while modernizing fleet management at the same time. Combining charging, transportation data and AI-powered operations may help Zūm coordinate increasingly complex electric fleets as deployments expand. For school districts, the model offers a pathway to reduce dependence on diesel while maintaining reliable student transportation. Successful deployment in San Francisco could also strengthen Zūm’s position as other districts consider large-scale fleet electrification.
