Tire Pyrolysis Technologies

Lummus Technology, a firm specializing in industrial process design, has formalized a global alliance with InnoVent Renewables, a company focused on recycling tires through a method known as tire pyrolysis. The agreement designates Lummus as the exclusive worldwide licensor for InnoVent's proprietary system.

InnoVent Renewables' tire pyrolysis technology uses thermal decomposition in a low-oxygen environment to break down discarded tires. The process is designed to convert this waste material into commercially useful outputs, including pyrolysis oil, gas, carbon black, and steel. InnoVent Renewables will rely on Lummus's broader expertise in processing technologies to further refine these outputs into higher-value fuels and chemical feedstocks.

This collaboration is presented as a strategic response to the global environmental issue of tire disposal, which sees over a billion units reaching the end of their life each year.
