Upcycled Biosurfactant Platforms
Kensing and AmphiStar Introduce Regenyl™ and Revolis ™
Kalin Ned — April 29, 2026As part of its new fully upcycled biosurfactant platform, which was developed through a strategic collaboration with AmphiStar, Kensing is introducing Regenyl™ for personal care applications and Revolis™ for home and industrial cleaning. This venture marks a significant development in the North American specialty ingredients market.
Regenyl™ and Revolis ™ are high-purity microbial-fermented glycolipids derived from waste streams such as edible oil byproducts and agri-food waste. They offer a palm-free, sulphate-free, and biodegradable alternative to conventional surfactants.
Both upcycled biosurfactants were evaluated based on a cradle-to-gate life cycle assessment. Kensing maintains that the upcycled production process results in over four times less carbon emissions, an eighteenfold reduction in water use, a fifteenfold decrease in biodiversity impact, and seven times less land occupation compared to similar biosurfactants made from virgin feedstocks.
